  • The Timberland® brand has a long history of supporting communities around the globe. Employees are given up to 40 hours paid time each year to volunteer in the community, leading the company to hit a big milestone in 2014: one million hours served. Now they’re working on their next million.
  • The Timberland® brand has been making its original yellow boot since 1973. The ultimate expression of the brand’s heritage of quality craftsmanship, each yellow boot undergoes 80 steps in its creation — many still done by hand.

In 2010, the Timberland® brand set out on an ambitious initiative to help reforest Haiti and rebuild its communities. What started as a commitment to plant five million trees in five years grew into something far bigger and far more impactful – the formation of the Smallholder Farmers Alliance, and the establishment of a self-sustaining agroforestry program that creates environmental, social, and economic value for Haiti. A big part of that is steadily increasing the use of recycled, organic and renewable materials in Timberland® products.  In fact, to date they’ve given about 185 million plastic bottles new life in footwear.

At the heart of the Timberland®brand is service:  supporting the communities around the globe where they live, work and play.  In fact, in 2014 Timberland employees achieved a major milestone, serving their one millionth hour.  (They’re now working on the next million.)  How did they do it?  By way of the brand’s Path of Service program, which offers employees up to 40 paid hours each year to volunteer in their communities – either on their own, or through initiatives like the brand’s annual global Serv-a-palooza event.
